El Salvador
“How can Canada’s churches help us reach the people of this city? If you will help us, we will donate the facility for a recreation centre.” This is a quote from the Mayor of Santa Ana, El Salvador. Bob Johnston was able to meet with him during our sports mission trip in May of this year. Our team was well received wherever they went, and we had many, many opportunities to share what God has done and is doing in our lives while we were there. Our audiences included the poorest of the poor who live in shacks wedged between coffee plantations and busy highways, officials from the local governing bodies, and students from the elementary schools, high schools and colleges. We played volleyball, basketball and soccer, became sick from either the water or a virus, shared sandwiches and fresh fruit with children dressed in rags, made friends with teams from Honduras and Nicaragua, and fell in love with the people of El Salvador. We’re going again in May 2009. Why don’t you come with us?

Honduras
SU Sportz is teaming up with Scripture Union Honduras in January 2009 to run a training workshop and sports outreach for children. SU Honduras has built a modern camp facility in Siguatepeque that features cabins, dining hall, soccer field and a world-class high ropes course.
